Principal's Message
As Principal, my vision for Cheltenham Secondary College is to provide an outstanding educational environment instilling in each individual the knowledge, skills and capabilities necessary for future success.
Excellence in education is the driving force, but it is the growth in the individual student that measures our success. We are continually challenging our understanding as learners and educators while constantly seeking to grow, embrace and drive change. As a community, the focus is on graduating well-rounded individuals equipped for the challenges of life and with the attributes to make positive contributions.
We welcome and encourage student voice within the college. Students are invited to participate in Student Leadership by nominating for College Captaincy and for the Student Representative Council (SRC). They are encouraged to have their say and to bring issues, thoughts and ideas to the teaching leadership and make contributions as to how to make their education more relevant and enjoyable.
The college has an outstanding reputation for its student wellbeing focus, with programs that support student needs throughout their time at the college. The program's focus is on developing the individual's emotional awareness, mindfulness, interpersonal skills, empathy, resilience and sense of community.
The college is strengthened in its endeavour to be a world-class learning environment - learning that matters – by basing its teaching on the strong values that reflect our community expectations of Respect, Responsibility, Personal Best and Sense of Community. One of the important elements of success for us is a culture where students understand the importance our community plays in their learning.
We are extremely fortunate to have a wide variety of academic and elective courses available to our students. While many schools are reducing their offerings, our students continue to have a wonderful breadth of opportunities made available.
On behalf of the staff and students at Cheltenham Secondary College, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our prospective students and their families. We are proud to be part of a wonderful community filled with rich traditions; a community that has high expectations for the educational outcomes of every individual student, no matter their pathway. We are confident that the opportunities available will prepare them well for their future, whatever that may hold.
Parents, I would like to encourage you to stay active in your child’s school life, even in the face of their attempts to distance themselves from you as they grow and mature into responsible young adults. It is important that we work together, as it truly takes a partnership between the college and the home to ensure success for each individual student.
