Football Academy

The Cheltenham Secondary College Football Academy is aimed at providing an integrated academic pathway driven by young students’ sporting aspirations. It allows young students to enhance and develop their sporting talent while concurrently receiving their secondary education.

It is crucial to the Cheltenham Secondary College Football Academy that students' academic pursuits are of the highest priority and that each students' interest and aspiration in sport assists them in achieving high results both academically and within the sports academy.

This course is not only creating pathways for professional athletes, together we are creating individual pathways for footballers, coaches, occupational therapist, physiotherapists, psychologists, nutritionists and many more.

The AFL Academy will be offered for both girls and boys. It will have students from Years 7 – 10 training together, however, there will be multiple coaches. The Academy will be run in partnership with the St Kilda Football Clubs Next Generation Academy. Cheltenham Secondary College is the only school that St Kilda will partner with in this area. The St Kilda Football club will lead the Academy which will operate as an extra-curricular activity outside of school hours on a weekday and students will be offered opportunities to be involved during the school holidays. The Academy will be overseen by Nick Dal Santo and an external coach will be appointed based on their recommendation. The program will be over and above the normal day to day schedule for a student and therefore classes will not be interrupted.

Applications for the Football Academy are open to both internal and external students. If you are interested in being involved in the Football Academy, please contact the school on +613 9555 5955.
